One of the most unforgettable moments of this year’s Adriatic Adventure didn’t take place on a baseball field—it happened on day one, beneath the bright lights of Milan’s legendary San Siro Stadium. There, our group was thrown headfirst into the electric world of Serie A football, as Inter Milan hosted Lazio in a high-stakes clash packed with passion, noise, and drama.
Even before kickoff, the scene outside the stadium was buzzing with life. The lots surrounding San Siro contained fans wrapped in team scarves and jerseys, street vendors firing up grills, and the air thick with the smell of sizzling panini and anticipation. Chants echoed from the iconic Baretto 1957 bar, where flares lit up the sky and supporters rallied before the match. Some of us grabbed a hot panini and a cold beer to soak it all in, while others picked up fresh Inter Milan gear to rep inside the stadium.
Once through the gates, the energy ramped up to another level. Over 70,000 fans packed into San Siro, chanting in unison, and waving massive flags showing their support. For many in our group, it was their first taste of European football, and what an introduction it was. The pace was relentless, the atmosphere electric, and the experience completely immersive. We may not have seen a victory, but we witnessed something even more special: the raw emotion and community that makes Italian football unlike anything else.
